The Shelby County Elected Officials met on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. in the courtroom. Those present were Collector, John Chinn, Presiding Commissioner, Terry Helmick, Commissioner, Terry Mefford, County Clerk, Stephanie Bender, Treasurer, Tracy Smith, Judge Greenwell, and, Recorder, Audrey Buzzard.
Everyone was updated on Direct Deposit. We will have Direct Deposit in August for payroll.
Treasurer, Tracy Smith asked if there was any more definite date on the window replacement.
County Clerk, Stephanie Bender stated there is not, just this fall sometime.
Collector, John Chinn stated there is a meeting in Macon on August 27th at 5:30 p.m. about SB 3.
Collector, John Chinn stated if SB 3 passes it will not make SB 190 ineffective. SB 3 allows for a 5% increase in property values where SB 190 is a freeze for seniors.
Judge Greenwell asked about the camera buttons for the Circuit Clerk’s office. Presiding Commissioner, Terry Helmick stated he has the cameras and is waiting for Rob Southers to check into wiring them in.
Next Elected Officials meeting will be September 8, 2025 at 8:15 a.m.
