Shelbina Man Charged After Assaulting Officers, Resisting Arrest

A Shelbina man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting several law enforcement officers Saturday, August 16, 2025.
According to court documents, Bruce Robert Beatty, 44, crashed his vehicle at the Shelbina Cemetery. Documents state Beatty allegedly appeared intoxicated.
As officers attempted to take Beatty into custody, he allegedly grabbed one officer’s arm and tried to take him to the ground. Once restrained, Beatty reportedly headbutted two officers while being escorted to a patrol car. At the Shelbina Police Department, Beatty is accused of intentionally kicking a deputy in the face.
In addition to the assaults, officers reported Beatty resisted arrest by refusing to comply, attempting to pull free from his handcuffs, trying to force open the patrol car door, and threatening to break his restraints.
Beatty is being charged is case No. 23SB-CR00115 with assault – 3rd degree – special victim, a class D felony, and resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, a class E felony, by Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney Jordan Force.
Beatty is being held in the Macon County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
Beatty’s bond modification was denied as the court considers Beatty a danger to the community. His case is continued to Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. for a formal bond hearing in front of Associate Judge Mike Greenwell.
All suspects are innocent unless proven guilty in court.
