On Friday October 17, 2025 the North Shelby Raiders traveled to Schuyler County to take on the Rams.
After playing only three quarters due to a Schuyler County injured player, the Raiders defeated the Rams by a score of 52-16.
The Rams started the game out with the ball, but were unable to score on their opening drive.
Cole Browning made a play to get the Raiders a first down, and then right after TJ Belt caught a pass from Bo Bacon to get another first down.
With the ball on the eight-yard line, Drayk Plunkett passed it to Drake Prange for the first touchdown of the game. North Shelby got the two-point conversion by a Bacon to Belt pass. The score was 8-0 with 6:40 left in the first quarter.
The Rams got themselves closer to the end zone, but on their fourth down possession, Gage Pauley attempted a pass that Bacon picked off. Bacon took it all the way to the end zone for another touchdown. Again the Bacon to Belt two-point pass worked for another two points. The score was 16-0 with 4:13 left of the quarter.
Pauley was looking for anything to get some points on the board. He was able to have a nice run himself to get a first down for the Rams. Mason Windy would follow Pauley and got another first down. To end the first quarter, the Rams had the ball on the 26-yard line for a fourth down possession. The Rams were unable to get anywhere, so the Raiders took over.
Browning worked hard for the Raiders securing a couple first downs. The Raiders got a flag to push themselves back five yards, but that did not affect their mindset. Following the flag, Bacon passed it to his younger brother, Ty Bacon, for another touchdown. For the two-point conversion this time, Prange ran it making the score 24-0 North Shelby in the lead.
The Rams were really looking to score at this point, and on their fourth down possession they did just that. Pauley passed to Windy, getting them their first touchdown of the night. The two-point gained the opposite way. This time, Windy passed to Pauley. The new score was 24-8 North Shelby still up. There was 9:20 left in the first half of the game.
Even though the Raiders were up, they were still looking to score. Browning got the Raiders a first down, but that wouldn’t be enough for the Raiders to score. They were forced to punt it away to the Rams.
Later on in the quarter, Plunkett was able to run it in for the Raiders fourth touchdown of the game. Browning would follow by running in the two-point conversion. This made the score 32-8.
With the second quarter coming to an end, the Rams were able to get a touchdown off. Windy had a long run to add six points to the Rams score. Windy also made the catch for the extra two points. The Rams now had 16 while the Raiders had 32. Before time ran out of the half, Browning was able to squeeze in another Raider touchdown, but they were not able to get the two-point to go. At the end of the half, the Raiders had 38 while the Rams had 16.
It would be all the Raiders from here on out. Plunkett and Bacon got Browning set up to be able to run a five-yard touchdown in. Browning was able to get the two-point to go. This brought the score to 46-16 with 8:04 left of the third quarter.
Although the Rams couldn’t get anything to go their way offensively, the Raiders still had one more touchdown in them. Browning ran it in to add another six points. This brought the score to 52-16 because the Raiders were unable to get the two-point conversion.
This concluded the game due to a serious injury a Schuyler County player faced. The Raiders ended up winning 52-16.
Browning led the Raiders with 122 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 17 carries. Plunkett ran for 47 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
Bo Bacon completed 3-of-9 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown.
TJ Belt led the defense with 6.5 tackles, while Caleb Barrick added two sacks.
North Shelby will travel to Illinois on Saturday, October 25, to face Chadwick-Milledgeville , Ill., at 1:00 p.m.
