Minutes Submitted
The Shelbina City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at city hall.
Tentative Agenda:
A motion was seconded and approved to approve the agenda.
Special Announcements:
Mayor Al Dimmitt informed the council that the Economic Development training scheduled for October 14th had been rescheduled to November. He said he will get the exact date on this and update the council.
Approval of Consent Agenda:
A motion was seconded and approved to approve the items in the consent agenda.
Unfinished Business:
Mayor Dimmitt gave an update to the council on the Planning and Zoning meeting that was held on October 9th. They will be meeting again on October 30th to further discuss the rules and regulations for the future of tiny houses.
City Superintendent Brian Fifer updated the council on the sidewalk project. There will be a meeting with GRE and MoDOT Wednesday.
With the city attorney not being in attendance there was no update given on the pending
ordinances.
A motion was seconded and approved to change the time in the noise ordinance to 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Deputy Clerk Michaela Christoffer will work on this and get it to the city attorney.
New Business
Council has decided to charge $75 per team member for the 2025 North Shelby golf team. The Clerk will reach out to North Shelby.
Nina Crawford was in to discuss with the council to potentially put her food truck in a residential area. Mayor Dimmitt told her that they would discuss it in the upcoming planning and zoning meeting in October and let her know. In the meantime, she will be looking for other options.
Mayor Dimmitt asked for the clerk to get updated cost of living for the City Marshal salary for next term and bring to the next board meeting for discussion.
A motion was seconded and approved to allow the Salvation Army to hold a mini-bucket blitz at the 4-way from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 3rd.
A motion was seconded and approved to put an ad in the Mark Twain Lake guide.
A motion was seconded and approved to allow any funds collected for the Santa’s Market to be disbursed to the Shelbina United Methodist Church.
Ordinances and Resolutions
Councilman Nick Broughton received a complaint from a citizen regarding people parking vehicles and equipment on city streets.
Budget Report
Mayor Dimmitt asked City Marshal Jeff Brown if he had an update for the Police Car Grant. Brown let the council know they have been approved.
Department Reports
Dimmitt gave update on Economic Development. City Marshal, Deputy City Clerk, and City Superintendent all gave updates and reports to the council.
