Winter Events at the Shelbina Library

By Christina Bartholomew

As winter drags on, with six more weeks of snow and cold, according to the groundhog, the Shelbina Library is hosting a couple of events to help alleviate the winter blues.  Please put us on your calendar for some fun filled learning opportunities to beat the winter blahs.

In February, we get to learn all about the traditions of the Chinese New Year.  Do you know which animal you are in the Chinese horoscope?  This is just one of the pieces of information one can find out when you join us on February 17th.  The traditional holiday celebrations last several days and include specific days to honor family.  Don some red accessories, said to be a lucky color, and come to the Meeting Room to learn more about this ancient celebration while socializing and being entertained on February 17th at 6:30.

Lastly, March 19th, we will gather to celebrate the Spring Equinox, or Ostara. This ancient celebration marks the balance of day and night, the Earth’s reawakening from the winter slumber, and the signs of renewal all around us.  Bring a quiche, or some chocolate eggs, and we will make some Spring Crafts to revitalize our home spaces.  We can also check in on our New Year’s Resolutions and make adjustments.  Make your way, once again, to the Meeting Room of the Library. The celebration will begin at 6:00.
