The South Shelby Lady Birds ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, when they traveled to Centralia and lost to the Lady Panthers 48-16, suffering its first Clarence Cannon Conference loss this season.
The Lady Birds were held to three points in the first quarter and three points in the second quarter, trailing Centralia 22-6 at halftime.
South Shelby made only one of 10 three-point attempts in the game, which came in the third quarter when Ainsleigh Truitt drilled a three to bring the Lady Birds to within 24-9 with 5:53 left in the third quarter.
Centralia closed out the third quarter on an 20-3 run to take a 44-12 lead at the end of three quarters.
South Shelby couldn’t muster any offense and lost 48-16.
Charlie Roush led the Lady Birds with five points and nine rebounds.
The loss dropped the Lady Birds to 16-8 overall and 5-1 in the CCC.
