Cardinals Drop Conference Game Against Clark County

    The South Shelby Cardinals hosted the Clark County Indians and lost 14-2 in five innings on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

  Clark County scored three runs in the top of the first inning.

  The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the first inning when Jace McWilliams walked and later scored on a wild pitch to pull to within 3-1 after one inning.

  The Indians scored a run in the top of the second inning, followed by three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 7-1 lead.

  South Shelby added its other run in the bottom of the third inning when Corbin Darling singled and later scored on an RBI groundout by Easton Sanders.

  Clark County scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning and finished off the game with five runs in the top of the fifth inning to win 14-2.

  Darling led the Cardinals with two hits, one run scored, and one stolen base. McWilliams added a hit, a run scored, and a stolen base.

  McWilliams pitched three innings, allowing seven runs, three earned runs, on five hits. He walked two and struck out two. Darling pitched the final two innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and two walks.

  The Cardinals, 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the Clarence Cannon Conference, hosted Monroe City on Monday, April 20. They travel to MMA on Wednesday, April 22, and to Louisiana on Thursday, April 23. They host Macon on Monday, April 27. All games begin at 5 p.m.
