Cardinals Lose at Bevier 9-5

The South Shelby Cardinals traveled to Bevier on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, and lost to the Wildcats 9-5.
South Shelby jumped out early with a three run first inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Blake Brengle. The Cardinals took advantage of a passed ball and an error to score the first two runs of the game.
Bevier scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning, then followed with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to build a 8-3 lead after five innings.
South Shelby scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning without recording a hit. Bevier walked the bases loaded and then Easton Sanders was hit by a pitch to bring home a run. Peyson Larrick followed with a bases loaded walk to pull the Cardinals within 8-5.
Bevier added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and won 9-5.
Brengle led the Cardinals with two hits and one run batted in.
Larrick pitched two and one-third innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit. He walked two and struck out three batters. Jace McWilliams pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run, walking two and striking out one batter. Noah Sanders pitched three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out two batters.
The Cardinals dropped to 2-11 on the season.
