Cheryl Lynne Mitchell, beloved mom, grandma, and friend, age 81, of Paris, MO passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Paris.
Cheryl was born on July 11, 1944 in Shelby County, MO, the daughter of Guy Russell and Stella Elsa (Winter) Hammond. She is survived by her children, Charles Leslie Gaines Jr. of Paris, MO, Cherylene Lee Ramos (Juan) of Paris, MO, Chad Lane Gaines (Sally) of Boonville, MO, Victor Lee Wade (Kelli) of Paris, MO, and Lucinda Rae Stuart of Clark, MO; ten grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Samantha, Baylee, Bryce, Madison, Caden, Jacob, Bo, and Anthony; four great-grandchildren, Rhett, Kaylee, Zackery and Elena; sisters, Marcia Oliver of Macon, MO and Sharon Parker of Paris, MO; several nieces and nephews; and being “Mama Cheryl” to so many others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dylan; brothers, Ron Hammond and John Hammond; sister, Carrol Sickal; and an infant sister, Phyllis.
Cheryl worked for the Division of Family Services for the state of Missouri. Cheryl worked the election polls at the courthouse and volunteered at the Paris Senior Center. She loved Steelers football, golfing, and dancing, and caring for her cat, Boots.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Mark Twain Country Club of Paris, MO.
